AU Info (WIP)
AU Circumstances
- This version of Calem comes from X version; canon plays out mostly the same until the final Lysandre battle, where he successfully manages to 'gift' Calem immortality.
- Going pure headcanon, but this means Calem was 14 at the time of the battle against him, and he's stopped aging due to Xerneas' power; he's lived for 15 years beyond that so far and is currently 29 years old and hasn't aged a day.
- Calem never became the Champion in this AU; shortly after defeating Lysandre and talking to Sycamore one last time, he elected to become a gym trainer/aspiring fashion designer under Valerie's tutelage.
- He's pretty recently taken to traveling; both to escape the growing questions that come with his agelessness, and to seek out inspiration for new designs. As of currently, he was on his way to Paldea to study the Terastal phenomenon to try and get some new, fresh ideas.
- He's actually released quite a few of his Pokemon over the time that he's been around; his original starter was among them, along with the Kanto starter he obtained from Professor Sycamore. They were mostly amicable partings, though they were also born out of Calem's own issues with watching the world age around him. Better to let them have a nice quiet retirement than anything.
- The main exception to this is his Gorebyss, who now serves as his primary partner and who won't leave him alone no matter how he's tried to release her.
- He actually gave up his Mega Ring; he brought it back to the Tower of Mastery and gave it to them, saying he had no more need of it and that it should be passed onto someone else. Along with that, he relinquished the Lucario he received from Korrina back into her care, alongside the ring.
- Calem is a typically bright kind of guy; the sort of person who gives off a friendly air no matter where he goes, and he's come out of his shell a fair amount in recent years and isn't quite the quiet guy that he used to be.
- He'll gladly chat your ear off about anything or give you a battle for fun, just for the hell of it. He's still a trainer at heart and loves letting his Pokemon out to have a good time.
- Even still, when one isn't looking, there's a small sense of melancholy about him; he doesn't show it when he's around others, or at the very least tries very hard not to do so.
- He's also surprisingly guarded, despite his friendly nature and love for people; he doesn't like to give out too much about himself, and would much rather listen to others go on about what they're passionate about and hear what makes them happy. Sometimes one can't help but think that they spent a lot of time talking to him only to learn...well, a lot of nothing.
- He's also incredibly hardworking; Calem is tireless in his hope to become an incredible and varied fashion designer, and you can almost always find him with a sketchpad in hand and observing various styles and committing them to memory. He's also pretty adept at seeking out good materials to make clothes with and just seems to constantly be going without any sort of rest. And yet he almost never seems to get tired; he's more likely to be found passed out at his desk than in bed at any point. It's at least partially due to his immortality rendering him without too many needs, or at the very least, that he can neglect them for a lot longer than most. Not concerning at all, I'm sure.
- Calem does have a fair bit of issues with his image; he doesn't like being viewed as some kind of hero due to what happened with Lysandre, and he tends to brush off any compliments or comments about his strength or heroics. He doesn't feel like he deserves them, and they're mostly just painful reminders at this point.
